“You will be exactly as happy as you decide to be.”
Hello lovelies! First, I just want to say thank you. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog posts. Thank you for the sweet responses to them and thank you for supporting me, it means the world to me and as I always say, my heart is so full. I am so thankful to have a platform, like this, where I am able to share my thoughts and ideas and the mountains and valleys of my life. Being vulnerable is not easy but knowing that people care, and actually read these, and respond, means everything to me and makes me want to share more of my life.
I just wanted to hop on quickly to share a little life update. I am feeling so so so happy. Like genuinely, whole-heartedly, not-faking-it happy. I am truly not sure the last time I felt this way. I think it was four years ago when I first got hired into my job, I felt the greatest sense of accomplishment and there was no negative energy in my life to subdue that. I feel like I can honestly say that is the last time I was this happy. I wasn’t sure if I would feel that way again anytime soon, ask me in 2018, I never would have been able to tell you this, but the amount of gratitude and love I am feeling in 2019, in astonishing, it’s more than I could have ever asked for.
I think that something that has taken me a long time to learn, is that happiness is a choice. It’s how you wake up every day, how you live your life during the day, and how you go to bed at night. It’s the moments when you’re waiting in a long line for a cup of coffee, or something at work isn’t going right. It’s the struggle to manage your finances, and the traffic that you’re stuck in.. These moments seem so frustrating and miserable, but you choose to be happy and find the goodness. The ability to even buy a cup of coffee, the fact that you have a job to complain about, finances to manage, and the car that you are able to drive. Life is soooo far from perfect, for everyone, and everyone is guilty of making their life look so perfect on social media. That’s all we have to compare to, but the reality is that everyone has their own struggles. Life can swing in an instant, and that, we can’t control, but we do have the ability to control how we handle each situation and the attitude we choose to have towards it.
I have made it my mission the past few months to find true, genuine happiness within myself. I’ve been very good in the past creating a world where I thought I was happy, or showed that I was happy over social media, or covered it up with a smile every single day, but now, there is nothing to cover. My heart is beaming and although I am far from perfect, I am trying to see the good in every single little thing. A big part of this is the people that I’ve surrounded myself with. Luckily, a few people that caused major negative energy in my life, were left in 2018, and the ones that are uplifting and amazing have led me into 2019. I could go into an entire list of those people, but I will save that for another post. The point is, the energy you choose to surround yourself with, makes a big difference in how you live your life. Your happiness is ultimately led by you, but those around you can definitely help a lot.
I still struggle sometimes, like anyone, but every morning I count my blessings and every night I say my prayers. God is faithful he really is, and even if you don’t believe in Him, the universe has a way of making things work out. You just have to have faith and hope and believe that your life is important and everything that happens to you, there is a reason for it. Happiness is a beautiful choice that we are all given and I sure hope you choose that for yourself. Sprinkle that ish everywhere.
“When something goes wrong in your life, just yell, “plot twist!” and move on.”
Thank you for sharing the sunshine. It’s shining every day whether we want to see it or not is definitely a choice. Have a great day.
